Week 4 Adventure

Aloha,
This week we had a Moana themed Mufti to help fundraise money for the Niue Primary School and we also had a Bake Sale. Thank you to all our family and friends for their support. We raised just over $1700.

On Friday we were really excited when our name was announced at assembly for winning the Reading Eggs Trophy for completing the most tasks throughout the school. We had completed over 200 activities in a fortnight.
Thank you parents for helping your child at home on Reading Eggs.
This week we would like to give a BIG HIGH FIVE and CONGRATULATIONS to Joshan, Kenzo, Nico and Tuakoi for making progress in their reading. They are now reading at Level 10.

Our goal as a class is to reach Level 14 by the end of the year. Miss Manuele would like to thank your parents for continuing to read with you every night at home. Keep it up!
Congratulations also to Chrisander for winning the PRIDE certificate and to Isaiah for winning the Duffy certificate.

Check out our video from this weeks adventures. We also had our first lesson on the Ukulele...it sure was a challenge. Please leave a comment on our page below.

Niue Principal (Mrs Vaha) visiting the Incredible Two's

Fakaalofa Lahi Atu,
In week 3, we had Mrs Moka Vaha the Principal of Niue Primary School visiting. During that week we learnt how to say Hello - Fakaalofa Lahi Atu, Good Bye - Koe Kia and Thank-you - Fakaaue Lahi in Niuean. We were able to use it when Mrs Vaha visited our class.

Fakaaue Lahi Mrs Vaha for visiting the Incredible Two's, we hope that next time you visit you will be able to teach us a Niuean song. We can't wait to see some photos of what school life looks like in Niue when our teacher visits in July.

Bernard Manakahia visiting our School

Kia Orana,
Our school was very lucky to have had Bernard Manakahia visiting our school. He shared with us stories of himself and his family. He challenged us in being able to achieve anything that we want. We were fascinated by the different types of dance styles that he performed.
Thank you Bernard for sharing your talent with us. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
Here are some photos and video of his visit.

Activ8 with Incredible Two's

Kia Ora whanau,

We have Counties Manukau who come in every Tuesday's to run a programme called Activ8 for our Junior Team. This term we will be learning about Rippa Rugby. We started learning the skill of ripping tags off each other and seeing how it feels. It was really exciting. We look forward to it every week. Check out how active we are. Thank you Coach Gafa. See you next week.

Our Journey to the Past

Fakaalofa Lahi atu family and friends,

This term our inquiry is 'Where we are in Place and Time'. The Incredible Two's along with the rest of the Fledglings team got to go on a journey to the past. We visited the Howick Historical Village where we had an experience of how people in New Zealand lived in the colonial days from the 1800's.

We went to the old school house where we curtsied and bowed to the teacher. We sat at old wooden desks and wrote on slates. We made butter with Mrs white and even got to taste it on a cracker. We learnt about the olden day toys and got to experience washing using a washboard. There was a lot to see including some household items that the colonial people used which you wouldn't see in most of our houses today.

Our class inquiry question is 'How have our clothes and transport changed overtime?'

Thank you to all our parent helpers who came along, we couldn't have gone on this trip without your support.

Take a look at our journey to the past...please leave us a comment below.
Fakaaue Lahi (Thank you)

Miss Manuele teaching us differently

Welcome to Term 2 family and friends,

During the school holiday, Miss Manuele went on a course with Yolanda Soryl where she learnt some new ways of how to teach Phonics using a Whiteboard. Our sound for the day is 'l, l, l'. Our word for today is 'like'. Here you will see us using the word in a sentence.  Our vocabulary is 'phoneme'. Do you know what it means?

Today we learnt how to say, spell and write the word 'like'. We also learnt how to check our work by looking at our teachers whiteboard and giving ourselves ticks. If it didn't look the same as Miss Manuele's then we had to rub off a tick. We had so much fun and guess what? We learnt to spell the word 'like'.

Keep checking our blog to see how fun learning is in our class.
Whole Class Writing Lesson.
Learning to read out loud what we had written.
Checking our work by ticking: started with a capital letter, end with a full stop and spaces between words.
As we wrote we had to say our words out loud.
Every time we said the word 'like' we had to spell it out loud and write the letters down at the same time.
