Swimming with the Blazing Saints

Talofa Lava,
Rain doesn't stop us from learning! Even though the rain was pouring down today, we had swimming. Today we learnt how to glide and streamline without using a flutter board. Thank you to the Blazing Saints for helping us. We had so much fun!

The Brain

Kia Ora Whanau,
This term we have been learning about 'The Brain'. Today, we decided to plan our ideas with words to help us write sentences about the brain.
Check out some of our writing.

House Sports Day

Ni hao family and friends,

Thank you to Whaea Lois and the House Captains for organising such a successful event. We started the day with Zumba with Mrs Sagote. We really enjoyed it and then ended at mini games where we had to use big balls and small balls.
Thank you to Alfred and his buddy for helping us. You both did an awesome job.

Here is a video of our fun sports day.

Duffy Role Model

Hello family and friends,

Our Duffy Role Model was Brodie Kane. She spoke to the children about how awesome reading is and how important it is to read. Everyone had to decorate their duffy box with their branding name. Thank you to the Blazing Saints for helping us with our box.

Congratulation to The Polynesian Pythons for their cool design. We thought you deserved to win. Well done!

Congratulation to Dalcee for receiving the Duffy Certificate!

Marsha and John visiting from Canada

Bonjour
This week, we were really lucky to have some special visitors from Canada. It was even more special because it was one of our class buddies grandparents.

This term we have been learning about what is the same/different about ourselves, family and friends. We have also been talking about how our cultures are different but we are the same because we all live in New Zealand.

Marsha and John (Nico's grandparents) came to talk to us about Canada and how it is different to New Zealand. When we heard the word 'Canada' we didn't know what it meant. Marsha showed us how far Canada is from N.Z on the World map. It is pretty far away!

Did you know that Canada is known for their maple syrup? Most of us in the class have never tasted maple syrup.

Thank you Marsha and John for visiting. We hope that you won't be bumping into any bears this year. Take care.

Life Eduation Prgoramme with Harold

Bula Vi Naka
This week the Courageous Cubs and Incredible Two's had 2 sessions with the Life Education Programme. We learnt about emotions and how things are the same and different about each other. We also learnt about solving problems and talking it through with a friend. We were really excited about meeting Harold and learning alot about "Feelings". Thank you Hillary and Harold for welcoming us into your classroom. We hope that one day we will have some cool lights in our classroom just like Harold.

Ask your child about what they learnt. Our new word of the week is 'Gluteus Maximus'. Do you know what that is?

Check out our adventure with Harold.

Swimming - Learning to use the Flutter Board

Greetings family and friends,
For swimming today the Courageous Cubs and Incredible Two's learnt how to use the Flutter Board. We have become really confident in the water. We challenged ourselves at the end of the lesson by gliding without using a flutterboard. Our teacher kept reminding us that it wasn't a race. We were all focused today and we think that we have improved since our last lesson. What do you think?

Thank you parents for allowing your child to participate. Our next swimming day is on Friday. We can't wait!

Here are some photos and videos of our learning today.
