Marsha and John visiting from Canada

Bonjour
This week, we were really lucky to have some special visitors from Canada. It was even more special because it was one of our class buddies grandparents.

This term we have been learning about what is the same/different about ourselves, family and friends. We have also been talking about how our cultures are different but we are the same because we all live in New Zealand.

Marsha and John (Nico's grandparents) came to talk to us about Canada and how it is different to New Zealand. When we heard the word 'Canada' we didn't know what it meant. Marsha showed us how far Canada is from N.Z on the World map. It is pretty far away!

Did you know that Canada is known for their maple syrup? Most of us in the class have never tasted maple syrup.

Thank you Marsha and John for visiting. We hope that you won't be bumping into any bears this year. Take care.

Life Eduation Prgoramme with Harold

Bula Vi Naka
This week the Courageous Cubs and Incredible Two's had 2 sessions with the Life Education Programme. We learnt about emotions and how things are the same and different about each other. We also learnt about solving problems and talking it through with a friend. We were really excited about meeting Harold and learning alot about "Feelings". Thank you Hillary and Harold for welcoming us into your classroom. We hope that one day we will have some cool lights in our classroom just like Harold.

Ask your child about what they learnt. Our new word of the week is 'Gluteus Maximus'. Do you know what that is?

Check out our adventure with Harold.

Swimming - Learning to use the Flutter Board

Greetings family and friends,
For swimming today the Courageous Cubs and Incredible Two's learnt how to use the Flutter Board. We have become really confident in the water. We challenged ourselves at the end of the lesson by gliding without using a flutterboard. Our teacher kept reminding us that it wasn't a race. We were all focused today and we think that we have improved since our last lesson. What do you think?

Thank you parents for allowing your child to participate. Our next swimming day is on Friday. We can't wait!

Here are some photos and videos of our learning today.

Mathletics and Reading Eggs

Talofa Lava,
This week we used the Chrome Books for Mathletics and Reading Eggs. Alot of us still need to practise how to log in. Your child has their log in details at the front of their notebook.

Congratulations to Nico Start for achieving 100% in the Map 1 Reading Eggs Quiz.
Parents, please encourage your child to log into Mathletics and Reading Eggs at home.

Check out some of our photos using the Chrome Books.

Small Ball skills with Courageous Cubs

Kia Ora Whanau

This week in P.E. we learnt about how to throw a tennis ball (small ball). We first practised in class before going out with Courageous Cubs on the field. We had to remember to aim and then throw. Some of us were really good but we all still need to practise at home. Parents, ask your child about what they learnt and practise with them at home.
Here are some photos of our learning.

Writing Experience

Hello family and friends.
On Monday our school was on lockdown. It was a very scary experience for us. We all had to get under a table where we stayed until it was safe to come out. We did some writing about it on Tuesday.
Check out some of our writing.
